Introduction to the Program

The Intensive Chinese Program at South China University of Technology (SCUT) is a one semester to one year program for international students.

About the Program

The Intensive Chinese Language Program is designed for international students who need to improve their Chinese language proficiency in a short period of time. The program focuses on improving comprehensive Chinese knowledge and skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Completion of this one-year program should enable students to have a good command of the Chinese language allowing for deeper communication and discussion. This improved proficiency of will increase the probability of success as students move on to engage in major studies.

Availability

• The Intensive Chinese Program is only applicable to the beginner
• All applicants without HSK result who apply for degree program are required to attend this program prior to their degree studies
• The program will be held only with 15 students or above for each level.

Start Date of the Program

The Fall semester starts from early September while the Spring semester starts from the end of February. The exact dates subject to the admission notice.

Curriculum

30 teaching hours per week;

Compulsory:

Basic Comprehensive Chinese (Listening, Reading & Writing, speaking; Improved Comprehensive Chinese (Listening, Conversation, etc.); Academic Chinese

Optional:

Basic/Intermediate Scientific Chinese; Basic / Intermediate IT Chinese; HSK Preparation; Chinese Movie Appreciation; Chinese Songs; Chinese Kong Fu or Calligraphy, etc.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees are RMB10,000 per semester. The total for the 1 year program is 18,200 RMB.
