Pakistani Students In China

Official data shows that China has become the top education destination for Pakistani students. In 2019, there were 28,023 Pakistanis studying in Chinese universities. Pakistan ranked third in international student population in China.

The number of students from Pakistan has risen mainly because of a series of preferential policies offered by the Chinese government after the launch of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a pilot project of Belt and Road Initiative.

Currently, 6,156 Pakistanis study PhD, 3,600 study master’s, 11,100 study bachelor’s and 3,000 study short term exchange programs across China. Out of all Pakistani students enrolled in Chinese universities, around 7,034 are studying on scholarships.
