About The Class

Objective:

In recent years China has increasingly strengthened its FDI plan, within the framework of the Belt and road initiatives, towards new investments and increasingly close ties with the African continent.

Lorenzo Riccardi, through his journey across the 54 African economies, tells us about the state of the art in Africa and the future economic and development prospects of the black continent within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative.

Lorenzo has taught taxation at Xian Jiao Tong Liverpool University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong, Tongji University, and Hult Business School. Tax Advisor and Certified Public Accountant specialized in international taxation at IBFD Kuala Lumpur, Ph.D. researcher in Asian tax at Shanghai University. He is based in Shanghai, where he focuses on business and tax law, assisting foreign investments in China and East Asia.

Italian Research Centre on Contemporary China

Associate Professor in the Department of International Studies at Xi’an Jiaotong – Liverpool University and member of the Board of Directors and Senior Researcher at the Italian Research Centre on Contemporary China (Centro Studi sulla Cina Contemporanea, CSCC, founded by the former Ambassador to China H.E. Alberto Bradanini), Alessandra has a Joint Postdoctoral Degree at the Institute of East Asian Studies (IN-EAST) and at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg/Research Center for Global Cooperation of the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, and a PhD in Asian Studies at the Oriental University of Naples and at Minzu University of China (double degree). Alessandra was visiting Research Fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik-SWP) and a consultant for the Sino-German Poverty Alleviation Program Xinjiang. Among the others, she studied and conducted research at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Beijing Normal University, Free University of Brussels, Aristotelous University in Thessaloniki, Xinjiang University, Shihezi University, and Kashgar Teachers’ College.

Alessandra’s research interests are focused on Chinese foreign policy in Central Asia, Belt and Road Initiative, agricultural development, and agribusiness in North-West China, Muslim communities in China. She published book chapters, scientific articles and analysis for, among the others, Routledge, Springer, and the Baillet Latour Chair of European Union – China Relations and the EU-China Research Centre. Her monograph on socio-economic development in Xinjiang was published by Palgrave in December 2019. Director of Operations,

The African Chamber of Commerce in China (AFCHAM)

Jilles Djon is the Director of Operations at the African Chamber of Commerce in China (AFCHAM). AFCHAM is currently boating 540 members in China and abroad and covering 37 African Countries.

As a Chief Investment officer, he is currently promoting the industrialization of the manufacturing and agro-processing industry in Africa in partnership with the government’s promotion and investment agencies. Over the past 3 years, he has accompanied international companies relocating to Africa ‘s Free trade zones (Ethiopia, Uganda, Cameroon, South Africa, Ivory Coast).
Jilles Djon is currently raising funds to provide affordable housing units in Kenya, Ivory Coast, and Cameroon.

Jilles Djon has a Master’s Degree in International Negotiation and Strategies from Paris Sorbonne and an MBA in International Business from ISEE Paris Business School.

The SJTU EBA Program was designed in 2019 and will be the most popular international training program and business platform in Shanghai.
