Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS) Opens – The Newest Business School in China

Zhejiang University (ZJU) is one of the leading universities in science and technology in China. The university is ranked number 3 in China and number 6 in Asia.

In its aim to optimise its educational offerings and expand its influence in the field of business, ZJU has opened a premier business school, the Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS).

The inaugural ceremony for ZIBS was held at Zhejiang University International Campus located in Haining on November 15. ZIBS has partnered with the Judge Business School of University of Cambridge and the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania.

ZIBS offers master’s and bachelor’s degree for international students. All programs are open for 2020 intake.

International Master of Business Administration (iMBA)

The iMBA program aims to train business professionals who can envision and implement original business concepts. The program fosters a collaborative learning environment, world-class research, and academic theory mixed with actual business practice.

The iMBA is offered full-time (exclusive for international students) and part-time (for Chinese and international students).

International Master of Finance (iMF)

The iMF program is dedicated to developing leaders with global vision, industry skills and impeccable professionalism.

Students will master principles of finance and information analysis, learn to skillfully apply financial theories to real-world settings, become deeply knowledgeable in cutting-edge industry trends in China and abroad and develop strong entrepreneurial and innovation skills.

International Master of Communication and Business (iMCB)

The iMCB is a two-year interdisciplinary program committed to training leaders who combine global vision, intercultural competence and understanding of China to position themselves as globally-competitive China business experts.

Through this program, students will develop Chinese language abilities, intercultural communication competence, research and analysis skills and practical experience in business and management.

Master of China Studies (MCS)

MCS is a degree program with a strong focus on China’s political, economic, historical, and societal context. Its interdisciplinary curriculum allows you to work analytical and gain an in-depth understanding of China.

The practical components of the program such as workshops and field trips seek to engage you in Chinese society to further prepare you for conducting research independently and integrate your empirical knowledge.

The primary instruction language is English with a rigorous Mandarin curriculum serving as an additional component to enhance your Chinese language proficiency.

The MCS has a team of more than 20 professors from various departments and faculties to instruct and guide you through your studies and research.
Global Communication and Management (GCM)

The Bachelor of Arts degree program in GCM is a four-year program that is committed to training entrepreneurs and future business leaders who combine interdisciplinary knowledge, expertise in financial and business analysis, and a deep understanding of China’s business environment to excel in China and compete globally.

Location – Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS) 

ZIBS is located on the southern tip of the Yangtze River Delta, in Haining, Zhejiang Province, the birthplace of Chinese Fintech. Haining is 125 kilometres away from Shanghai and 65 kilometres away from Hangzhou. The city is a top tourist destination and is famous for the Qiantang River.

The new Zhejiang University International Campus is equipped with modern, state-of-the-art facilities. The International Campus has three canteens which offer a mix of western and Chinese style food served daily.

Students who want to live on-campus can stay at any of ZIBS four residential colleges. Every room is equipped with a comfortable bed, storage, desk, shared bathroom, and kitchen amenities.

Next to the bell tower, the International Campus’s huge library is one of the landmarks of the campus. The library provides access to a wide variety of books, journals, articles and other resources.

The International Campus has a gym which is open from 9am to 9pm every day. From May to September, the gym’s Olympic-sized swimming pool is open for use. In addition to the gym and the pool, ZIBS also has various sports facilities around the campus which are open for personal use at any time.

Dr. Ben Shenglin
Dr. Ben Shenglin, Dean of ZIBS and AIF

Dr. Ben Shenglin is Professor & Dean of Zhejiang University International Business School and Academy of Internet Finance. He is also Director of International Monetary Institute, Renmin University of China.

Prior to entering academia in 2014, Dr. Ben held senior positions with leading global financial institutions. Dr. Ben is a well-trusted advisor to both the public and private sectors.

A Chinese national, Dr. Ben obtained his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Tsinghua University, Master of Management from Renmin University of China and Ph.D. in Economics from Purdue University, USA.

Haidong Qu
Dr. Haidong Qu, Vice Dean of ZIBS

Dr. Haidong Qu is Vice Dean of ZIBS. He joined Hangzhou University (now Zhejiang University) in 1993 and he has a wealth of experience in higher education administration and academic management. He worked in the Graduate School of Zhejiang University for 13 years.

Dr. Qu holds a bachelor’s degree in history, a master’s degree in management and a doctorate in educational management. He has published more than 20 papers in the field of postgraduate education and won the National Teaching Achievement Award and three Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards.

Joshua Kobb
Joshua Kobb, Vice Dean of ZIBS

Joshua Kobb is Vice Dean at the Zhejiang University International Business School, where he is focused on developing global strategy and implementing strategic initiatives for the business school.

Prior to joining ZIBS, Joshua served as Chief Operating Officer for the Core Leadership Institute in Boston, USA, focused on delivering transformational leadership development programs. Throughout his career he has developed and implemented management, talent, and development programs at INSEAD, HEC Paris, Harvard Business Publishing, and Baruch College at the City University of New York.

Joshua holds an MA in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute at Middlebury College and a BA in Psychology from Rutgers University.
