On September 4, the opening ceremony for Tsinghua-INSEAD EMBA (TIEMBA) Class of 2026 and Tsinghua SEM EMBA 2024 Cohort were successfully held at the Tsinghua University Auditorium. Distinguished guests in attendance included Professor BAI Chong-En, Distinguished Professor of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences of Tsinghua University and Dean of School of Economics and Management (SEM); Professor XUE Jian, Senior Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM; Professor Mark STABILE, Dean of Degree programmes and Dean of the Europe Campus at INSEAD; Professor CHEN Zhangwu, Chairman of the Gansu Xinghua Education Fund and Retired Professor of Tsinghua SEM’s Economics Department, as well as other Tsinghua SEM faculty members and directors.Dean BAI Chong-En opened the ceremony with a speech reflecting on the 40-year history of the School, emphasizing its mission to “create knowledge, cultivate leaders, contribute to China, and influence the world.” He highlighted the significant academic achievements and international impact the School has made since its founding. Dean Bai encouraged new students to broaden their global perspective, foster innovation, leverage technology to drive business growth and embrace social responsibility to contribute to the progress of the nation and society.Dean Mark Stabile welcomed TIEMBA Class of 2026 and Tsinghua SEM EMBA 2024 cohort to the opening. He highlighted the partnership between Tsinghua University and INSEAD, combining the strengths of both institutions to offer a unique educational experience. The Dean emphasized the programme’s mission to prepare global business leaders who will address key challenges such as climate change, peace, and sustainable development. He encouraged students to embrace the diverse perspectives offered by both schools and contribute positively to business and society through innovative and impactful solutions.Professor XUE Jian delivered the inspiring First Class titled “Understanding History for the Future,”reviewed the school’s history and mission, highlighted the achievements in academic development, and encouraged students to uphold Tsinghua’s spirit.In the following programme introduction session, TIEMBA Class of 2026 student LIU Jingzhu (Candice), Assistant General Manager at Golden Credit Fund Management Co., Ltd., co-hosted with two other EMBA students. Professor CHEN Zhangwu then delivered a keynote speech on “The Spirit of Perseverance in Challenging Times.” Ms. JIA Li, Director of EMBA Programmes, introduced the two EMBA programmes of Tsinghua SEM and as well as the team of the EMBA Education Center.Several distinguished alumni and student representatives delivered speeches. Jean Pascal CAMPUS, TIEMBA class of 2026, CFO of SPT Roth Group, recounted his decade-long journey in China since 2012, emphasizing the transformative nature of the programme. He highlighted the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone, embracing diversity, and building cross-cultural connections. The speaker encouraged fellow students to fully engage in the challenges ahead, leveraging the strength of their diverse backgrounds to grow both personally and professionally while expressing deep gratitude to family, friends, and faculty for their unwavering support in this journey.The ceremony concluded with a group photo in front of the University Auditorium, marking the official start of the TIEMBA students’ academic journey, one filled with leadership challenges and growth.
The TIEMBA programme has been held for 18 consecutive cohorts. The student composition of the TIEMBA programme is characterized by diversity, with around 700 alumni from 51 different countries, and over 95 percent of them holding global business management positions. TIEMBA class of 2026 has 35 students coming from countries such as Canada, Germany, Japan, Portugal, Angola, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Mongolia, Russia, China etc., with an average of 15 years of industry experience.
