  • Flexible Internship Options: You can participate in part-time internships during the semester or full-time summer internships on campus, working as interns in different UIC departments or as research assistants for professors.
  • Career Development Support: Internship opportunities are also available through UIC’s Career Development Office (CDO), professors, or your own connections.

Graduate Internship Program at UIC

UIC also invites graduates to apply for a one-year internship program. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and meet specific language requirements. The program includes responsibilities such as assisting in course planning, grading assignments, and supporting instructors. Interns gain valuable teaching experience while participating in the “Chinese Language, Culture, History and Development Programme” to enhance their understanding of Chinese culture and language.

Application Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant program with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  2. IELTS score of at least 7.0 or equivalent.
  3. Two letters of recommendation from academic staff.
  4. A full resume including an expression of interest in a specific department.
  5. Additional information on activities, work experiences, and special skills.
  6. Agreement to enroll in the Chinese Language and Culture program during the internship.
  7. An interview with the Director of International Education at the applicant’s home institution.
  8. A final interview with a panel at UIC.

Interns must respect Chinese laws and customs, and they are expected to work effectively in an intercultural setting, assisting in various academic and administrative tasks. The workload should not exceed 35 hours per week, including participation in one Chinese language course per semester, and allocate around 3 hours for self-directed learning such as completing a TEFL certificate online.
