5 Scholarships to Study at Xiamen University for International Students

Xiamen University’s various scholarships provide countless opportunities for deserving students throughout the world. If you’re eyeing Xiamen University, you can now apply for the following scholarships.

1. Chinese Government Scholarships
  • Full scholarship covers tuition, on-campus accommodation, living allowance (RMB 2,500/month for bachelor’s program; RMB 3,000/month for master’s programs and general scholar’s visiting programs; RMB 3,500/month for doctoral programs and senior scholar’s visiting programs) and insurance.
  • Partial scholarship covers one or several items under full scholarships.

Application Period: January 1 to April 15, 2020.

2. Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban Scholarships
  • Confucius China Study Plan

Full scholarship covers tuition, accommodation plus living allowance (RMB 80,000/year), research funding (RMB 20,000/year; to be reimbursed on the basis of the actual expense incurred), round-trip international airfare (economy class; to be reimbursed on the basis of actual expense incurred), insurance, expenses for group activities and cultural experience.

  • Confucius Institute Scholarship

Full scholarship covers tuition, on-campus accommodation, living allowance (RMB 2,500/month for Chinese Language Program; RMB 3,000/month for MTCSOL Program) and insurance.

  • Professional Development Program for Chinese Language Teachers in South Asia

Full scholarship covers tuition, on-campus accommodation, living allowance (RMB 2,500/month for Chinese Language Program; RMB 3,000/month for MTCSOL Program), insurance and round-trip economy-class international airfare (MTCSOL Program only).

Application Starts: March 1, 2020, deadline of application depends on when a specific program is commencing.

3. Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship

The scholarship covers tuition, on-campus accommodation for one academic year only.

Scholarship value is as follows: RMB 30,000 for bachelor’s program; RMB 40,000 for master’s program; RMB 50,000 for doctoral program.

The University will select the best candidates from the pool of students who have passed the review to apply for the scholarship again in the following year. The shortlisted candidates will be submitted to the Fujian Provincial Department of Education for final approval.

Application Period: February 1 to April 15, 2020.

4. Xiamen Tan Kah Kee Scholarship

The scholarship covers tuition, on-campus accommodation, insurance and monthly living allowance.

Scholarship value is as follows: RMB 50,000/year for bachelor’s program; RMB 60,000/year for master’s program; RMB 70,000/year for doctoral program.

Application Period: February 1 to April 15, 2020.

5. Xiamen University Scholarships
  • XMU Scholarship for New Students:

Partial scholarship (first-class) covers tuition and living allowance (RMB 3,000/month for master’s program; RMB 3,500/month for a doctoral program).

Partial scholarship (second-class) covers only tuition.

  • XMU Scholarship for Exceptional Students:

Prize (first-class) is worth RMB 6,000 for bachelor’s program; RMB 8,000 for master’s program; RMB 10,000 for doctoral program.

Prize (second-class) is worth RMB 4,000 for bachelor’s program; RMB 5,000 for master’s program; RMB 6,000 for doctoral program.

 Application Period: February 1 to April 15, 2020.
