If you studied medicine or another science-related field for your Bachelor’s, a Master’s program at SUMC is the perfect opportunity to specialize in the specific field of your interest.

When you study for a Master’s, you will work closely with a supervising professor who will help guide your studies and development through the three-year degree.

You can check out SUMC’s websites and research the names of the supervisors to find someone who might be a good fit for your research interests and learning style before applying.

There are very limited spots open for Master’s programs: sometimes just one spot per supervisor. Apply early through China Admissions to help you secure a spot in these prestigious and competitive programs.

PhD Programs at SUMC

Like a Master’s program, a PhD involves working closely with a supervisor. For 3-5 years, PhD candidates will conduct intensive research and present their findings in a final dissertation to receive the PhD.

Scholarships at SUMC

Guangdong Government International Student Scholarship is open to outstanding international students, who study full-time in a degree-seeking program in an accredited university or college of Guangdong Province. The scholarship is awarded in two student categories: freshman and continuing students. The award amount for each awardee is CNY10,000.

SUMC also offers competitive, merit-based scholarships to excellent international students. The freshmen selected will receive an award of CNY10,000 and a certificate. For continuing students, the top one of each course will be awarded a scholarship of CNY500 and a certificate.

Shantou University Medical College currently has two campuses: the original medical campus in the historic center of Shantou city, and another modern campus shared with the main campus of Shantou University in the northeastern suburbs. A new SUMC teaching facility located on the main campus has been completed and put into use.
