Applying to Chinese universities can be a daunting task. China is a completely different country, it has its own unique language and bureaucracy. But don’t worry because China Admissions is here to help.
Before you decide to pack up, leave everything behind, and ride off the sunset to China, read this three-step process on how to study in China.
The Three-Step Process to Apply to Chinese Universities in 2022
First things first, have you chosen a program or a Chinese university already? If yes, that’s great! But if you haven’t decided yet, you can search for programs and choose a Chinese university from our site. After that, you just need to follow these three steps:
1. Complete the application form.
To start your application, you have to fill out our online application form and submit it.
2. Prepare and email your application documents.
Required documents may vary according to the Chinese university and program of choice (non-degree, bachelors, masters, or Ph.D.). However, these are the most basic that you can prepare:
- Passport copy
- Graduation certificate
- Passport size photo
- Official transcript
- Two recommendation letters (written and signed by your teachers/professors with their contact details)
- Personal statement letter
- Physical examination form
See Frequently Asked Questions about documents for more information.
Once submitted, we will review your application within 2 to 3 days and liaise with the university of your choice. Keep in mind that we can only send your application to the university when the university opens its own application portal. But it’s a good idea to send your application to us as early as possible anyways: here’s why.
Should there be a need to submit additional documents, we will contact you.
You also need to pay your application fee.
Every university requires a fee to process your application.
Covered in the payable amount is the postal fee and applying for visa application (JW202 form).
The fee is non-refundable, therefore, it will not be returned if the university declines your application. Here are your options to pay the application fee.
TIPS:
- All documents must be in English or Chinese. If using other languages, secure a notarized translation.
- All documents must be submitted in a high-quality format. Use a scanner machine or the free CamScanner app to get the best-quality image to upload.
3. Wait for your unique application ID and feedback.
Once you’ve completed all three steps above, you will receive a unique application ID.
The majority of Chinese universities take around 4 to 6 weeks to review your application. Make sure to check your email during this period as they might contact you directly to ask for more information.
We know waiting can be nerve-racking. China Admissions will follow up on your university application and provide you with regular updates.
Your University Application is Successful – What’s Next?
Once you get accepted by a Chinese university, they will send you the admissions letter electronically. You will also pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.
After a month, you will receive an admissions package that has your admission notice and JW202 form.
