Founded in 1920, Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in Harbin, China, is a leading university. Recognized in 1954 as one of China’s first six top universities, it’s now part of the top nine University Union (C9). HIT focuses on science and engineering but also includes management, liberal arts, economics, law, and more.
HIT has achieved milestones like pioneering China’s first School of Astronautics and developing micro-satellites sent to the moon. HIT is a hub for innovation, creating the first computer to play chess, robots for welding, and contributing to HIV research and space experiments.

Application Deadlines for HIT 2024
Applications are open all year round.
Deadline is June 30, 2024 for September intake
(Deadline for Postgraduate is June 20 for September intake)
Eligibility
- Foreign nationality
- For Bachelor: Applicants must be high school diploma holders and under the age of 30 (Minimum: 18 years old)
- For Master: Be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs
- For PhD: Be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs
- Applicants are good health both mentally and physically
Application Documents for HIT
The application documents in other languages must be notarized into English or Chinese.
Undergraduate:
- Application form
- Passport
- Senior high school diploma or expected graduation certificate
- Academic transcripts for all courses in high school
- Language proficiency certificates:
- TOEFL≥78 scores, IELTS≥ 6.0 scores, or equivalent English language proficiency certificates.
- Note: Applicants who apply for Chinese language and literature do not need to provide language qualification certificates
- Recent Physical Examination Record
- Non-criminal record report (usually issued within six months before the application submission date)
- Curriculum Vitae
- Remittance voucher of application fee (400 CNY)
- Certificate of deposit (at least 20,000 CNY or equivalent foreign currency)
- Proof of outstanding academic achievements, sports, art, cultural exchanges, public welfare activities, etc. (if available)
Postgraduate:
- Application form
- Passport
- Diploma:
- For Master: Undergraduate diploma or its equivalent
- For PhD: Master’s degree diploma
- Official transcripts
- Language proficiency certificates:
- TOEFL ≥80 scores, IELTS ≥ 6.0 scores or other equivalent English language proficiency certificates
- A written proposal of the study plan (more than 1,000 characters or words)
- Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors
- Physical Examination Record
- Non-criminal record report (usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of application)
- Bank statement (financial guarantee proven deposit of at least CNY 30,000 or equivalent in foreign currency)

- Online application
- Submit the application and pay the application fee (CNY 400 or USD 60)
- Note (for postgraduate): Application fee is free during the early action application period.
