The School of Management, Fudan University (FDSM) has announced the launch of the Xing Quan Belt and Road Scholarship for the IMBA program for 2021 intake.
The scholarship has been set up for international students from countries that have joined the “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI). The target is to promote Chinese cultural and education exchange and provide talented students with opportunities to study in Asia’s top business school.
The scholarship is funded by Mr. Yang Dong, alumni of FDSM, with an annual contribution of RMB 500,000 to sponsor two international students with RMB 250,000 each.
About the Xing Quan Belt and Road Scholarship
Since China President Xi Jinping put forward the cooperation initiative of building the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” in 2013, China has signed 201 cooperation documents jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative with 138 countries and 31 international organizations by November 2020.
The Belt and Road Initiative has not only unleashed the development potential of countries along the route and benefited global economic development, it has also set off a wave of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries all over the world. It has opened a bridge for more Chinese and international students to study and learn from the excellent cultural achievements of other nations.
In order to better serve the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, the School has specially set up the Xing Quan Belt and Road Scholarship for international students with the support from Mr. Yang Dong.
The Scholarship Application Process
To apply for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following three requirements:
1. Applicant is an international student applying for the full-time Fudan IMBA program and meets the program requirements;
2. Applicant is from a developing country, and preferably from a country that has signed cooperation documents with China to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative (see the Belt and Road Network website www.yidaiyilu.gov.cn for the full list of countries);
3. Applicants should show demonstrated need for financial aid.
This scholarship will be awarded after the applicant is officially admitted to the full-time Fudan IMBA program. The recipient will be awarded RMB 125,000 at the start of each year with a total amount of RMB 250,000 over two years.

The IMBA program was jointly launched in 1996 by the School of Management of Fudan University (FDSM) and the MIT Sloan School of Management. The program is taught in English and is committed to cultivating high-level management talents with a global mindset and entrepreneurial spirit, who can adapt to the needs of the modern Chinese and global digital economy.
With the fruitful results of the Belt and Road Initiative, more and more young students from the route are looking to China for study or exchange. The Fudan University IMBA program has been widely recognized by international students for its diverse cultural background and professional curriculum.

The establishment of the Xing Quan Belt and Road Scholarship for international students further demonstrates the School’s commitment to international development.
Since it’s restoration in 1985, the School has been committed to the international strategy of “Going Out and Welcoming In”.
In terms of exchanges, the School has actively opened various forms of exchanges and established communication channels with 109 leading institutions of higher education and research institutions in 32 countries and regions, including the United States, Britain, France, Singapore, Australia and South Korea. Each year, more than 100 foreign experts, scholars and business people give lectures in the school and more than 200 exchange students are sent and received. The comprehensive internationalization strategy includes all levels of students, teachers, scientific research, curriculum, business contacts and international cooperative research.
The School is also working hard to develop global resources and has joined the PIM (Partnership in International Management), GMAC (the Graduate Management Admission Council), GNAM (Global Network of Advanced Management), and many other top International cooperation organizations. The school has also successfully received EQUIS and AACSB accreditation.
There are international opportunities for students on the Fudan International MBA program. In addition to sharing the faculty, curriculum, business consulting laboratory projects, as well as alumni network with the School and MIT Sloan School of Management, they can also have the opportunity to apply for a second degree study at the following three international top colleges and study abroad: MIT Sloan School of Management, Yale University School of Management and Schulich Business School.
In addition, students of the program also have the opportunity to conduct academic and cultural exchanges with MBA and EMBA students from Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School, Yale School of Management and other prestigious schools every year, and can go to more than 90 internationally renowned business schools for exchange. This can expand their international horizons and strengthen their intercultural understanding.

The school has established the scholarship to support the Belt and Road Initiative and bring opportunities to international students from developing countries.
