We all know Google maps. Famous, useful, good.
Well, in China you might find something even better, more famous and more useful. *Baidu maps. It is perfect if you need to know where the closest bank is, the closest mobile phone store, or other places like the cinema, restaurants by cuisine, hotels and even tourist attractions.
It also helps to know which bus to use, which subway line is the closest, how much time it takes to go from one place to another. It’s more accurate but it’s in Chinese.
So there’s an app in Chinese – English which helps you with getting around using buses: PandaBus. The name of the stations are in Chinese, but still better than nothing.
- Explore Shanghai
- Metro Beijing Subway
- Guangzhou Metro
- Nanjing metro etc.
Every now and then there are times when you can’t find a cab, even in China, where are so many of them. When it happens, use Uber, DidiDache (滴滴打车) in northern China and Kuaide Dache (快的打车) in southern China. The last two apps are also only in Chinese.
When you need to go to another city, you should thank the universe for China Train app, as it can save you from a lot of troubles.
To check flights or/and hotels it’s better to use Ctrip. Chinese version has not only hotels and flights, but also train information.
