Study in Xi’an as an International Student
Xi’an is one of the oldest cities in China and the capital of Shaanxi province. The city is the starting point of the Silk Road. In 221 BC when the Qin Emperor unified China, Xi’an was its ancient capital. A mausoleum was built in memory of the army of warriors from the Qin Dynasty and is now popularly called the Army of Terracota, one of the top tourist destinations in Asia. Xi’an is one of the few complete city walls left in a Chinese city where you can cycle around the top of the wall.
Xi’an is a highly urbanized city with 8.5 million residents. However, unlike Beijing and Shanghai, Xi’an has lesser population and lesser pollution. You can travel within the city and across China through public transportation, a new metro system operational 24/7, overnight sleeper trains and a newly renovated international airport. Its major industries include agriculture and tourism.
With its long history, ancient-old temples, pagodas, palaces, and museums — modern conveniences, and top-tier universities, international students are making an excellent choice when they choose to study at Xi’an. Some of the top universities in Xi’an include the Xi’an Jiatong University, Northwest University and Northwestern Polytechnical University.
