Have you always pondered on studying abroad in a non-Western country like China? You’re not alone!
The growing popularity of China as a study-abroad destination has seen an influx of international students from every corner of the world. According to a 2018 statistics from the Chinese Ministry of Education, there were 492,185 students in Chinese higher education during that year. The goal is that in 2020 China will host 500,000 international students.
While there are a lucky few who can spend sums of money to experience China’s unique educational system and immerse in the Chinese culture, one major concern among many international students is the cost of studying in a foreign country.
If you’re on a tight budget, read this article to learn how to study abroad in China without breaking the bank!
How to Study Abroad in China Without Spending Too Much
One of the best ways to study in China is to apply for a Chinese government scholarship. Every year, the government awards CSC Scholarships (provided by the China Scholarship Council) to thousands of international students across the world.
Government scholarships are applicable to a wide selection of academic degrees in the field of engineering, science, agriculture, economics, medicine, legal studies, education, business and history across 289 designated universities in China.
CSC Scholarships can be partially or fully-funded. A fully-funded Chinese government scholarship covers all university costs, accommodation fees, health insurance, learning materials, initial visa/setup costs and a monthly stipend.
In addition to CSC scholarships, universities in China offer their own scholarships for foreign students. There are also many private scholarships offered by distinguished alumni, big companies and charitable institutions.
