3 Ways to Find a Great Job in China

As China’s economy continues to grow, there are more and more people looking to find a great job in China. Overseas Chinese are looking to move back, and talented people from all over the world are interested to move to China.

Currently, there are not that many job portals in China for this market. One of those in Beijing is thebeijinger. Linkedin is also a good resource. There are some local platforms, such as Boss App. The language is all in Chinese.

The other way, and probably the best way to look for roles is through networking. Guanxi, or “relationships,” is very important in China. There is a saying that most job opportunities are never posted online because they are filled by people in their personal network. It is a good idea to spend time building and growing your personal network in China. There are also a number of job fairs in China – at universities and elsewhere in the city.

1. Learn Chinese

One of the main ways you can improve your chances of getting a job in China is to learn Chinese! You can check out some great Chinese programs here.

2. Study in a Top Chinese University

Studying in a top Chinese university for a Master’s makes you eligible for a work visa and can really help you find a great job in China. You can explore master’s programs here.

3. Improving Your Skills

There is a great book called “The essential guide to Hiring & Getting Hired” by Lou Adler, which we recommend. It gives tips on how to find the best job, and how to decide. Below is a form which helps to make a decision. One of the main ideas is that while salary, location etc., are all important, it’s really important to consider Year 1 and beyond rather than Day 1.
