Why did you choose USTB? 

USTB a été choisie par chance parce-que lorsque j’applique la bourse je choisis l’université Geosciences, qui est en face de USTB. Il y avait trois choix, en fait: Geosciences de Beijing, Geosciences de Wuhan et enfin UCAS qui est aussi à Beijing. Mais malheureusement à la fin, j’avais demandé la lettre de pré-admission, ils ne l’ont pas accordée, j’ai décidé donc d’envoyer la lettre à d’autres universités. C’est là où donc l’USTB me répond. C’est pourquoi donc je suis à l’USTB.

USTB was chosen by chance, as when I applied for a grant, I chose the University of Geosciences, which if fact is right next to USTB. In fact, there were three choices. Geosciences of Beijing,  Geosciences of Wuhan and last, UCAS, which also is in Beijing. But unfortunately, in the end, I had asked for the letter prior to admission, which they denied. I therefore decided to send my letters to other universities. That’s when USTB answered me. And so that’s why I’m at USTB.

What’s the best thing about studying at USTB?

Ici? 

Oui, à l’université.

Par rapport à quelle université?

Non, ce n’est pas par rapport, c’est à l’université.

Beijing ou l’université.

Les avantages de cette université, de Beijing…

Ici, je pense que c’est plus organisé par rapport à d’autres universités de la Chine, mais c’est une hypothèse à travers des discussions avec d’autres camarades. Par exemple les livres que j’étudie, qu’on utilise, c’est gratuit ici. Ailleurs, les étudiants payent. C’est déjà un avantage. Il se pourrait aussi que ici on s’occupe mieux des étudiants étrangers. C’est le second des points. Je voudrais dire, tout est mis en place pour que l’étranger soit à l’aise, en fait.

Here, I think it’s better organized than in other Chinese universities. But this is an hypothesis, made through chats with other colleagues. For example, the books I’m studying, that we use, are free here, which is not the case elsewhere, the students have to pay.  This already is an advantage. It might also be that here, students from abroad are better taken care of. This is the second point. I would like to say that everything is done to make sure foreigners feel at home, in fact.

And what do you think of Beijing?

A propos de Beijing, je pense que Beijing c’est une très belle ville. I don’t know if I want to compare with another country, another town?

Yeah.

Right. Sur le plan urbain, en comparaison avec tout…. mon pays, ou la capitale, Beijing est très admirable, très classé, très ordonné. Tout est mis en place pour que sans le vouloir, on commence souvent à tomber amoureux de la ville, c’est un peu ça.

All right. Considering urbanism, in comparison to all … my country, or the capital, Beijing is very admirable, very classified, very organized. Everything is done to make you start falling in love with the town, without even noticing, something like that.

Beijing is simply the best.

Yes, that’s it! That’s it.

Tout simplement, Beijing c’est meilleur?

Oui, c’est ça! C’est ça!


How would you describe it in one word? 

Je voudrais tout simplement  remercier USTB de m’avoir accepté au sein de sa structure.  Franchement, je suis très content d’être ici, je suis très heureux. Je suis également content d’être avec les… je ne dirais plus les camarades, mais des amis, donc… Et je remercierai aussi mes différents professeurs là aussi, qui sont là chaque jour. Je suis très content.

I merely wish to thank USTB for having accepted me within its structure. Honestly, I’m very glad to be here. I’m very happy. I’m also happy to be with those whom I would not call my colleagues but friends. And I also wish to thank my various teachers here, who are here everyday. I’m very happy.
