I recently had dinner with two students from Tanzania and Rwanda
We were discussing about why they were interested in studying in China.
One of the biggest advantages they said was that they thought China was the safest country in the world to study. In most countries there are places that you wouldn’t want to go to late at night, or even in the day time. They have heard stories of people they know who have had dangerous experiences in their home country or of studying abroad. But in China they say they feel completely safe and free to go anywhere in the city at any time and not feel in danger. They never hear stories of other students getting in danger.
Actually I remember when I first came to China, I was studying at Peking University. I lost my phone on campus and thought there was no chance of getting it back. I was quite surprised when a helpful University student answered and arranged to meet.
